The OmniYoga Trust was founded by Har Pal (Lucy Crawford) and Kavita (Deborah Kwan) in 2006 to support and build yoga-based charitable and community projects in Cambridge and its surrounding areas. These projects aim to be open to all, and include special programmes targeted at sections of the community that would not usually have access to yoga and who would benefit from the mental and physical health and well-being aspects of yoga.

More specifically:

We aim to create a pool of yoga teachers and alternative health practitioners who have worked intensively and successfully with specific groups such as recovering addicts, the elderly, those with mental health problems, women who have experience domestic violence, partially sighted and blind people, and young people. From within that pool, we will run training and support programmes, including a mentorship scheme to support and encourage teaching to more challenging groups.

Bearing in mind the specific skill sets of the teachers that make up our membership, we wil approach partner organisations to put together tailored yoga programmes to complement their work and treatments. (Please see our other pages for more information on our collaborations and programmes).

As well as working with partner organisations, we will develop our own programmes to offer a series of workshops and regular classes to create opportunities to widen participation and raise awareness and understanding of the health benefits of yoga.
