Starting in May 2009, OmniYoga ran a course at Cam-Mind for its service users to teach them how to manage stress and anxiety. Its aim was to teach the to let go of the effects of daily tension and in doing so, promote their mental well-being and bring about a sense of deep calm and focus.
The course was tailored to the specific circumstances of the group, covering several techniques such as deep-breathing, progressive relaxation, relaxing stretches, visualisation and meditation, as well as how to handle oneself in stressful situations. The concepts of aromatherapy, self-massage and yoga were introduced and experienced, and one highlight was playing a new instrument- a Tibetan singing/meditation bowl!
The course was well-received and it is hoped that a regular class can be set up.
